Last couple of challenges for caricaturama showroom 3000 have been Bill Cosby and Liam Neeson. I don't know what is going on? I like these drawings but there is something missing, they don't have "punch" I don't know what it is? I think it is time to sketch and sketch and try to find what I'm missing... You know?

Last week challenge on Caricaturama 3000 was Alan Rickman. I started with a first idea but half way down the painting I realized that I wasn't capturing any feeling or character into the painting. So, I started a new one, this time I went more for a feeling, trying to capture my vision of "Snape", what I think he looks like from reading the books few times, of course having the actor as a huge reference... I'm really happy with the final result :)

This week on Caricaturama S. 3000 we are honoring Japan, so I decided to paint Ken Watanabe

Ken Watanabe (渡辺 謙, born October 21, 1959) is a Japanese stage , film, and television actor. He is known for playing tragic hero characters, such as General Tadamichi Kuribayashi in Letters from Iwo Jima and Lord Katsumoto Moritsu in The Last Samurai, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Among other awards, he has won the Japan Academy Prize for Best Actor twice, in 2007 for Memories of Tomorrow and in 2010 for Shizumanu Taiyō. He is also known for his roles in director Christopher Nolan's Hollywood blockbusters Batman Begins and Inception. (Wikipedia)

Hulk Hugan

This past week challenge on Caricaturama Showdown 3000! was Hulk Hugan. Well, I won first place with my piece. Something cool is that I tried something new for me. I did a small test to make the image 3D.



To see the 3D effect try this: look at them and relax your eyes, so they actually drift apart. As they do this, guide them so the two images drift into three, until the image in the middle pops into alignment as your stereo image. You are now compositing the left and right images on top of each other, and letting your brain focus on this image alone. Once you get it there, you can easily lock it into place.
